International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

In 1999, the United Nations designated the 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This was to recognise the worldwide issue of gender violence and in memory of the The Mirabel sisters who were murdered by a dictator due to their political views.

The 25 November is also the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

For this #IDEVAW2019 and the 16 Days of Activism, we will be shining a light on our work as an organisation who supports many women who have been subjected to male violence and abuse. A daily blog post will give you an insight into an area of our work from our front line services to our infrastructure support. On Day 1, we will be giving you an insight into our therapeutic services, supporting women and children in their recovery from the abuse and violence they have been subjected to.
